A Chinese citizen in Australia was recently accused of involvement in a so-called “foreign interference” case. The Chinese Embassy in Australia expresses serious concern regarding this matter. The Chinese government has always adhered to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and consistently reminds Chinese citizens in Australia to abide by local laws. Allegations of “Chinese interference in other countries”  are entirely groundless and unacceptable.

In accordance with the China-Australia Consular Agreement and relevant international treaties, the Chinese Embassy dispatched consular officers to attend the local court hearing. The Embassy will continue to provide consular protection and assistance to the Chinese citizen concerned in accordance with the law, to ensure the legitimate rights and interests of the citizen involved, are protected and treated humanely and fairly.
