On October 6, Ambassador Liu Jinsong met with Brandon Craig, Chief Executive Officer of BHP based in Melbourne.

Ambassador Liu commended BHP for its long-standing commitment to the Chinese market and its important contribution to China-Australia cooperation in the mining sector. He expressed hope that Craig, as a new-generation leader with an engineering background, would view the Chinese market and cooperation with China from a long-term strategic perspective, and support sustainable and win-win bilateral cooperation in mineral trade and investment. He also encouraged BHP to explore greater cooperation with China in areas including green smelting, new energy storage, workplace safety, smart mining and public welfare.

Craig stressed that the Chinese market is of vital importance to BHP and expressed confidence in the prospect of the Chinese economy. He said BHP stands ready to further strengthen cooperation with its Chinese business partners across various fields.
