Ambassador Cheng Jingye visits the Northern Territory

From June 26 to 29, Chinese Ambassador Cheng Jingye paid an official visit to the Northern Territory (NT) at the invitation of the NT Government.

During his visit, Ambassador Cheng made a courtesy call on the Administrator of the NT, the Hon. John Hardy, and had a cordial meeting with the Chief Minister, the Hon. Michael Gunner. He also met respectivelywith the heads of the relevant Departments, visited the port of Darwin and Charles Darwin University, and attended the welcoming dinner held by the local Chinese community in Darwin as well as the opening ceremony of the first Confucius Classroom in NTat the Woodroffe Primary School.

Ambassador Cheng and the NT government officials in their meetings highlighted the importance of China-Australia relations, and expressed the readiness to expand cooperation in various fields between China and NT. Healso encouraged the Chinese community to continue to abide by local laws and regulations and make further contributions towards friendly exchanges between China and Australia.
