On February 8th, Ambassador Xiao Qian presented the copy of his Letter of Credence to Mr. Ian McConville, Chief of Protocol of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Commonwealth of Australia.
At the meeting, Ambassador Xiao said that he was honored to have been appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Australia. He thanked the Protocol Branch for its thoughtful arrangements regarding his new posting and long-time facilitation and assistance to the Chinese embassy and consulates in Australia. He looked forward to the official commencement of duties after presenting his Letter of Credence to the Honorable Governor-General.
Mr. McConville extended warm welcome to Ambassador Xiao and said that the Protocol Branch will provide support and assistance to Ambassador Xiao as well as Chinese embassy and consulates in performing their duties in Australia.
