On February 27th, Ambassador Xiao Qian met with the Governor of Tasmania, Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker at the Government House.

Ambassador Xiao stated that in the past two years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both countries, China-Australia relations have achieved a comprehensive turnaround, which aligns with the common interests of both sides. Currently, China-Australia relations are moving towards a more mature and stable phase. China is willing to work with Australia to implement the strategic concensus reached by the two leaders and promote greater development of bilateral relations on the basis of stabilization and improvement. China and Tasmania have maintained close exchanges and achieved fruitful cooperation. As sister provinces, China's Fujian Province and Tasmania have carried out effective cooperation in various fields. It is hoped that the positive momentum of friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Tasmania will be further consolidated and extended, bringing greater benefits to the people of both sides and adding new impetus to the greater development of China-Australia relations.

Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker welcomed Ambassador Xiao's revisit to Tasmania and warmly recalled the grand scenes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Tasmania in 2014. She spoke highly of the friendly subnational relationship between Tasmania and Fujian Province, and hoped that the two sides would further strengthen exchanges and visits and deepen practical cooperation.
