On November 25, Ambassador Xiao Qian was invited to attend and deliver a speech at the ANU China Update 2024.
Ambassador Xiao introduced the recent development of China-Australia relations. He said that high-level visits have become increasingly active and practical cooperation in various fields continued to advance. China and Australia reached a series of important consensus on bilateral relations and international and regional affairs. As long as both sides uphold mutual respect, equality, and the principle of seeking common ground while managing differences wisely, China-Australia relations will continue to grow into a more mature, stable, and fruitful partnership. This will inject greater stability and certainty into the region and the world.
Ambassador Xiao emphasized that China has continued to deepen comprehensive reforms, sharing its development opportunities with the world and injecting strong momentum into the global economy. There is vast potential for China-Australia cooperation in green economy, energy transition, and climate change. The two countries should actively create new growth drivers and benefit both nations.
