On November 26, Ambassador Xiao Qian held a press briefing to mark the 10th anniversary of President Xi Jinping's state visit to Australia and the establishment of the China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Twenty media outlets, including the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, the Australian, China Central Television, Xinhua News Agency and Phoenix TV attended the briefing.
Ambassador Xiao said that 10 years ago, President Xi Jinping paid a successful state visit to Australia. The two sides jointly promoted our bilateral relationship to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and announced the substantial conclusion of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement negotiations. This visit has charted the course for the development of the bilateral relations and brought tangible benefits to the people of the two countries. Guided by the strategic consensus reached by our two leaders, we should adhere to mutual respect, treat each other as equals and seek common ground while shelving differences, fully unleash the potential of the China-Australia Free Trade Agreement, and work together to build a more mature, stable and fruitful China-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the next decade.
Ambassador Xiao also took questions from journalists on issues including China's economy, China-Australia relations, Taiwan question and etc.
